St. Clair Glass Company, Elwood, Indiana, 1941-1987. Joe St. Clair specialized in paperweights. He acquired a few of the molds from the Indiana Tumbler Company which had burned in 1903 and reproduced the Dolphin dish and the Holly Amber toothpick holder from that company. Many pieces are signed. Joe's father, John St. Clair, had been a glass worker. Two of Joe's brothers also worked in glass. Bob (brother) and wife Maude operated the House of Glass in Elwood. They all made beautiful paperweights. Joe perfected the Rose paperweight. When both Joe and Bob died, grandson Joe Rice purchased the House of Glass and equipment and continues to craft art glass in the family tradition.
